In just 3 years email open rates on mobile devices have grown from 8% to 48%. As an email marketer this requires a change of strategy as email accounts are no longer locked down on a desktop computer like they used to be. This makes your prospective clients much more accessible than they ever have been.
We have been working on what we call the TopDown Method to enable you to gain more exposure for your emails by sending them at the right times. The old rules of sending between Tuesday to Thursday at between 10am to about 3pm no longer apply.
The key to getting your emails opened and more importantly replied to is now more about getting to the top of the receivers inbox at the right time. People traditionally will read their latest emails first. So it makes sense that you want to be at the top and not the 20th email in the list. If you are deep in a receivers inbox your are more likely to be deleted as there are only so many emails people can digest.
Our testing has shown that there are some very good response rates for emails sent first thing in the morning from 6am - 8am as you are more likely to be near the top of the receivers inbox.
It's not good enough to just be in the inbox in the morning as remember you want to be at the top of the inbox at the most appropriate time which is when the receiver is going to read your emails.
You should always be testing your send times and then checking your reports as there are some amazing details your can gain from these. Have a think about the TopDown Method when you send your next campaign.
